My name is Sonja Nelson. I'm a 35-year-old resident of
I went to college and gained diplomas in Web Design and Network Administration. I didn't put either diploma to good use. Soon after graduating college I packed up all my belongings and moved to the prairies where I started a career in the Alberta Oil Sands. I also made the switch to a Mac and never looked back.
I live in jeans and t-shirts. With the exception of my colourful t-shirt collection, I wear only grey, black, and navy blue though I am going try and wear more brown and khaki in the future. I drink way too much coffee though I've cut down to about 5 cups per day. I'm an eccentric, extremely nerdy, bibliophile and knitter. I have a passion for Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Nature. I love everything about the Earth and the Universe. My favourite planet is Mars (if you were wondering). My one goal in life is to travel to Antarctica. I'm also a shameless Anglophile and am slightly addicted to creativity books.
I enjoy museums (especially of the natural history and dinosaur varieties), art galleries, and planetariums. I have my own aesthetic which is a hybrid of Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Biopunk, Schoolhouse, Industrial, and Geek. When not knitting or working I can usually be found reading dead philosophers, comic books, graphic novels, Sci-Fi, Steampunk, or the classics; drinking (wine, beer, tea, coffee); crocheting; sewing; or trying to become a decent photographer and draw-er of things.
I made an Influence Map of those who inspire me.
